My mentors all had a firm belief in their own success. Henry Ford said "If you believe you can, or you believe your can't.... You are absolutely correct." Your belief is your mindset. If you can't get out of your own way to achieve success or you can't figure out why you keep hitting roadblocks and can't find the path to success, what's going on between the ears (mindset) may very well be the reason. Do you completely believe you can create an enormously successful business? Six figures? Seven figures? If not, here are some resources that helped me adopt a mindset of wealth and phenomenal success. Not just the mindset but the ability to turn it into a reality. The Art of Success (David Neagle's FREE audio seminar on how to create a millionaire mindset and set yourself up for enormous success!) No B.S. Wealth Attraction for Entrepreneurs Get over all the ads he puts into his books. Yes, I know, it's annoying and can be a turnoff. His frank and abrasive style can be a turnoff too. But folks, Dan Kennedy is truly a masterful teacher and has earned every bit of the title of "Millionaire Maker." Ignore the ads in his books and pay attention to what he is teaching, and you'll learn a LOT! Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised (a best seller for decades! All of my 7-figure mentors have read this book.... repeatedly. I have issues with some of the content as I have a strong Christian background. It can be a little too self-serving at times as well, but quite honestly what it teaches on mindset is beyond valuable!) Who Switched Off My Brain? controlling toxic thoughts and emotions (Excellent book that gives you medical proof that your thoughts have a powerful effect on who you are and what you are experiencing in life - including the success or failure of your business) The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich This book was one of the turning points for me becoming self-employed. Some of the internet stuff in it may be dated (because the internet changes so rapidly), but it is still a good book to change your mindset about what's possible for you and your business.
BOOKS FOR THE NEW ENTREPRENEUR Now What?: 90 Days to a New Life Direction (Can't figure out just what business to start? This helped me to get crystal clear on what I was meant to do with my life) The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It (eye-opening advice on why the failure rate of small businesses is so high. A good book to read BEFORE you take the plunge and become an entrepreneur) Working Solo: The Real Guide to Freedom & Financial Success with Your Own Business, 2nd Edition (tons of great tips and suggestions for what you should think about in starting a new business) Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised (Whoah, mindset! Not your average book, but every single 7-figure mentor I've had reads this book over and over and over. I found it to be a little self-focused and some of it conflicts with my own Christian beliefs, but even with those caveats, it had a strong impact on my ability to believe and create success. The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich This book was one of the ones that made me realize that self-employment does NOT have to be difficult. Some of the internet stuff in it may be dated (because the internet changes so rapidly), but it is still a good book to change your mindset about what's possible for you and your business.

Header Generator - Inexpensive Way to Create Banners for Your Web Page (the Banner at the top of this page was created with this inexpensive tool!) The World's Smartest Shopping Cart System (this is how I accept payment for products and services on the internet. I publish my weekly Ezine there, and I also send personalized email messages to clients through this system. I also use it to send automated messages when someone purchases from me or signs up for one of my freebies. It does all the work for me and allows me talk to my clients and subscribers... even while I'm sleeping!) Microsoft Expression Web 2 If you are going to create web pages yourself, it does save you tons of money. I created my own web sites using Front Page and I'm still using Front Page. Even my 7-figure mentor is using Front Page. But FrontPage is no longer available. Microsoft Expression Web took its place. I have not used Expression Web but I hear it's similar to FrontPage. So for the do-it-yourselfers like me, go for it! :-) I'll be switching to Expression Web shortly. Microsoft Expression Web for Dummies - It may not be the best book for those transitioning from FrontPage to Expression Web, but a good reference nonetheless.

PUBLICITY FOR YOUR SMALL BUSINESS How to Get Millions of Dollars of Publicity for FREE!! I'm a mentee of Paul Hatunian's. I've seen him speak, purchased his program and I've use this myself to get full page stories done on me in newspapers and to get on radio shows, and it didn't cost me a single penny! And best of all, it's fun to be in the news! If you're interested in publicity but thought you had to hire a publicist to get it, think again. Excellent resource, and it works.
CREATING YOUR 30-SECOND ELEVATOR SPEECH Speak Your Business in 30 Seconds or Less: Forget those boring (yawn!) elevator speeches that cause people to glaze over when you talk about your business. Ann Convery is one of my former mentors. I was in her bootcamp coaching program and learned exactly how to talk about my business (in 30 seconds!) so that people perk up, take notice AND sign up to work with me. Having an Ezine showcases your expertise, increase your credibility, bring people back to your site, and most importantly helps you to stay in front of your existing customers regularly. Networking is a fantastic way to grow your business. Why? Because personal referrals is one of the most powerful ways to bring in business. Below are few of the organizations that are out there. Also, you would want to do a google search on "Business Journal STATE" or "Business Networking STATE" where the state is your own state. Business journals have tons of networking meetings going on. For example, I found this giant list for Atlanta for example. BNI - Business Network International (You can search for a chapter in your area. I HIGHLY recommend this group for the purpose of referral building. It's awesome.) National Association for Women Business Owners (You can search for a chapter in your area) eWomen Network (Excellent group that I belong to. If they have a "Wisdom Circle" in your area, get into it!)
